Istanbul! Here for the Turkish Grand Prix. Arrived Thursday. Mhairi flew in for the weekend race and we had just enough time to see some sights. Weather so hot.

Barcelona! Currently enjoying the sights and sounds of this lovely city for the first time. La Sagrada Familia is stunning and got plenty of pictures of view from the top spires at magic hour. Later on in the evening I took some pics of the outside sculptures at night. The church is beautiful with all the underlighting bringing out the detail.

Sunday spent marching from harbour area up to hills across city. Got to Tibado by the afternoon where there is a children’s amusement arcade next to a painted cathedral. Very strange. A further walk across the hills brought me to the Torre de Collselora.

Monday trip on cable car over harbour. No longer afraid of heights although the water still holds some fear. Can’t swim.

Busy week.

Attended the London Winter Comic Festival on November 1st and met up with friends and colleagues. Sketched at the Titan Books stand on the Saturday morning with Chris Weston and Ian Edginton. My editor Steve White also joined in the session by doing his own dinosaur sketches and put us all to shame! Some more sketching and signing upstairs and a couple of portfolio reviews too. Highlight of the event was finally meeting John Stokes ( Warrior magazine and now Warhammer ) A genuine talent and inspiration for me when I was starting out. Check out his new work now.

Also did some teaching at the Newcastle Life Science Centre with Dougie Braithwaite as part of their Super Powers week. Spent Monday to Thursday teaching various classes of kids and their parents and guardians how to design their own super-hero costumes. Great response and some brilliant ideas. A possible career in teaching may well be on the cards in the future?

Moniaive Comic Festival - Run by Alan Grant and his wife Sue, this festival is now in it's fourth year and attracts a wealth of talent from this country and abroad. A small and intimate setting just north of Dumfries, Moniaive is a pleasant change from busier conventions. Very relaxed atmosphere and a younger audience too. Met up with Dougie Braithwaite and Jon Haward and other artists and writers over the weekend. Nigel Dobbyn was conducting a couple of classes for kids wanting to know how to draw comics and Dougie and I got plenty of ideas for our forthcoming teaching classes in Newcastle next month for the International Centre for Life. More news on that soon.

Finished the Filth last week and issue twelve should be in the shops as you read this.

Looking forward to developing some personal projects in the forthcoming months ( or until I get the call? ) and finishing the studio. Will put up galleries soon, including sketches and promotional artwork of new stories, so bear with me. Already had a good response to the site considering how little there is in the way of images.

Other news - Back up! Always back up! This is today's mantra. Learn it. I had a major PC crash the other week and lost everything: email, address book, artwork, everything. Unfortunately, I was rather distracted by The Fith and other duties and hadn't backed up in a while. A hard, painful  lesson to learn.

Back from the Bristol Comic Festival 2003. Had a smashin' time and met up with all my colleagues, old and new, again. Lots of sketching and signing especially for the Filth. Saturday was very busy and most of the day was spent chatting to the comic fans... which meant taking requests of sketches for the Sunday.

Thanks to Shelly Bond from DC for taking Chris Weston and I and others out for dinner. Thanks too to Frank Quitely for keeping us all entertained. Special word goes to Liam Sharp for keeping me company on John Bamber's table over the weekend... and Simon Fraser for being able to chat to my Italian request and keeping her amused while I took too long over her sketch. Gareth and the Chester crew should also get a mention for making me feel very at home and to everyone else who made the weekend a very enjoyable four days.

There are some new developments coming soon to this site and for future projects. Check with updates soon.

Welcome to the new version of Gary Erskine Online. Still under construction. Expect the full working version in July.

I am currently working with Chris Weston on The Filth for DC Comics and expect to complete that around the end of July. Following that there are a selection of personal projects I am trying to revive including work with Dom Regan. More soon. I will be attending the Bristol Comic Festival 2003 on 24-25th of May and will be sketching and signing for the two days. There will also be artwork from The Filth, Starman, Knights of the Pendragon, Johann's Tiger and other books for sale. Any requests for specific pages can be done by email.

Expect a gallery up soon featuring a selection of artwork ( both published and portfolio ) and a bibliography of all previous work. Yes, that will include the Transformers covers from way back and some spot illustrations too.

See you in Bristol.
